Summer 2010 e-Portfolio

I’ve just released the 2010 edition of my digital portfolio. It’s powered by the Issuu publishing module, an incredibly sophisticated script that converts standard media documents into digital magazines. The function and appearance are similar to Flash, but the load time is minimal.

No photos or video of sweet suffering faces. No popular vacation landscape for a backdrop. No personal connective ties. Are those the reasons the natural disaster in the Great Plains has gone below our philanthropy radar?

How many of us knew anything about the massive winter storms that have left the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation without power or water or heat for nearly two weeks? (Yes, I know many reading this are on the East Coast, like me, nervously wondering if today’s latest blizzard will knock out our power. But we have resources that tribal people with 80% unemployment in the remote plains simply don’t.)

USA TODAY carried a story nine days ago but, like most media focused on millions suffering in Haiti, we didn’t keep an eye on Native American who are still as freezing, isolated, and miserably unsafe now as then.

Outraged Keith Olbermann is now raising funds at MSNBC for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Storm Relief–Emergency Assistance Fund.

My art exhibit at the Community Gallery of the First Service Bank in Clinton, Arkansas will continue through the month of February. The newest pieces in my portfolio will be on display. The exhibit is open to the public during bank hours, call 1-501-745-7200 for more information.

Several of my newest paintings will be on display in a dedicated show at the First Service Bank in Clinton, Arkansas, 486 Highway 65 B, courtesy of the the North Central Arkansas Foundation for Art and Education. The exhibit will continue through the end of January. Call 501-745-7200 for details and for viewing times. You’re invited to chat with the artist and enjoy refreshments at a reception on Saturday, January 23 from 10am-12.
